Gillian Gilmore

Gillian discovered her passion for Athletic Therapy while working as a student therapist during her undergraduate degree at the University of New Brunswick.  Her experiences in contact sport with the men’s rugby and men’s and women’s wrestling teams were fundamental in her pursuit of a career in Athletic Therapy. After graduating from her BSc. Kinesiology (Honours) degree in May 2009, she moved to Toronto to continue her education in the Athletic Therapy Certificate Program at York University concurrent with her Masters of Science in the faculty of Kinesiology and Health Sciences.  She became a certified athletic therapist in June 2012 after passing the national certification exam with the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association.   Having grown up on Grand Manan, Gillian is excited to have been able to return to New Brunswick and begin providing her expertise as an Athletic Therapist close to home.

As an Athletic Therapist, Gillian enjoys doing on site field coverage as well as providing therapy to clients in the clinic.  With a passion for helping athletes to be able to perform at their best, she works with teams to help develop healthier athletes through injury prevention education and conditioning programs, as well as sport specific stretching and strengthening exercise programs.  Eager to work in all areas of Athletic Therapy, Gillian embraces the injury prevention component of athletic therapy as much as the first responder and clinical rehabilitation aspects of her discipline.

The team at Ken Val is extremely proud of Gillian’s most recent achievement. She was honored to be chosen as Team Athletic Therapist for the Canadian Men’s Soccer Team at the World University Games this past August(2017) which took place in Taipei, Taiwan. Congrats Gillian!!
