Erika Turner

Erika joined us in June 2021, relocating from Halifax, NS, amid the COVID19 Pandemic! Born and raised in Sussex, NB, Erika made the move back to New Brunswick to be closer to family; becoming a part of the Ken Val Rehab team at a time when one of our other team members was expanding hers!

Erika started her career path to becoming a Physiotherapist at UNB Fredericton, achieving her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in 2008…making the Dean’s List all 4 years prior to graduation; then went onto Dalhousie University, graduating with her Master’s of Science in Physiotherapy in 2011. In the 10 years since graduation, Erika has primarily worked in orthopedic physiotherapy private practice, with her most recent stint working with the Canadian Armed Forces at CFB Stadacona in Halifax for the past 2 years.

Erika has always maintained an active, healthy lifestyle… participating in various sports as a Sussex Sonic, including field hockey, basketball, and volleyball. Now, as an adult, she is still active in the competitive Ultimate frisbee scene, playing on various women’s and co- ed teams across Canada and the USA. When not at work or playing team sports, Erika can be found on her trusty bike exploring the tracks and roads of New Brunswick, or out with friends loving a run on the trails.

Erika is a firm believer in putting the power of healing in her clients’ hands through injury/disease process education, self-care strategies education, and exercise program education that are specific and meaningful to the end goal of her clients’ rehabilitation processes. Living an active lifestyle herself makes Erika very understanding of the limitations an injury can put on someone when they are prevented from doing something they love. This understanding, combined with the compassion she extends to her clients through her treatment philosophy, and her extensive post graduate training in acupuncture, dry needling, and manual therapy, will be just what you need to help you achieve your end rehabilitation goal, whether it is return to sport, work, or just to life in general!
